13th Annual Resistance Meeting
Optimising Antiretroviral Therapy: Where Next?
17 September 2009, London

The 13th Annual Resistance Meeting is to be held at the Royal College of Physicians. Located in Regent’s Park, London, the Centre provides all the facilities required for our delegates.

The morning programme will focus on recent developments in the field, including updating and feeding back recent resistance data and how best to use resistance results to guide treatment decisions. The late morning and afternoon sessions will focus on new developments and concepts in drug resistance and the challenges that still lie ahead. In addition, we are happy to
be able to include, once again, a session in collaboration with the UK HIV Drug Resistance Database Group and we feel sure this session will prove to be very topical as well as raise some interesting points for debate and discussion.

Second Conference of the BHIVA Hepatitis Working Group

The BHIVA Hepatitis Working Group brings together those directly involved in the care of HIV-infected patients co-infected with hepatitis B or C, as well as those who have a clinical or research interest in the epidemiology, natural history or basic science of viral hepatitis.

BHIVA Autumn Conference 2009

Once again, the BHIVA Autumn Conference will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre. Located in the heart of London, the conference centre boasts all the facilities required for delegates. The conference will be hosted by Dr Adrian Palfreeman, who in collaboration with the BHIVA Conference Subcommittee, has worked hard to prepare an exciting programme for the conference.

BHIVA Best of CROI Feedback Meetings

All of our feedback meetings provided an independent, unbiased and impartial review of the key presentations held at the recent CROI conference in Montreal at the beginning of February.

Such activities, along with a growing demand for further involvement in conference organisation, has led to the creation of a Conference Division. This section manages all organising aspects, as summarised below:

  • Assessment and selection of conference event and venue;
  • Identification for type of conference: national conference, satellite symposium, round-table session, closed workshop;
  • Securing sponsorship;
  • Appointing the faculty: convenor/chairperson, international advisory board, speakers and delegates;
  • Scientific programme planning, including identification of subject areas, general themes and topics;
  • Arranging interviews with leading personalities;
  • Preparation of pre-conference literature, conference announcements, abstracts, posters, programmes, conference packs;
  • On-site management, including registration, technical facilities;
  • Catering, travel and hotel arrangements;
  • Publication of post-conference literature, such as newsletters, reports, full proceedings;
  • Arranging continuing professional education certificates.
